Alec Baldwin: The late Rust cinematographer’s husband recalls being ‘so angry’ at the actor’s comments

Halyna Hutchins’ husband has revealed she was “so angry” at Alec Baldwin’s refusal to “take any responsibility” for the rust death of the cameraman.

Matthew Hutchins made his first public comments about the tragic shooting that left his wife Halyna, 42, dead in October last year in a new interview TODAY Show.

The independent western film’s cinematographer was killed after a gun held by Baldwin was fired at the rust takes place at Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The film’s director, Joel D’Souza, was also brought on board, leading to widespread scrutiny of gun safety protocols on Hollywood film sets.

While Baldwin has denied claims that the rust Set was “unprofessional” or “messy” and reiterated he was not responsible for her death, Hutchin’s family is suing 30 rocks actors about her death, their lawyers announced on February 15.

At the appearance on Wednesday at the TODAY Show, Hutchins described Baldwin’s lack of responsibility for the incident as “absurd”.

“The idea that the person holding the gun and causing it to be discharged is not responsible to me is absurd,” Hutchins told co-host Hoda in an interview that will air in full on Thursday (Feb. 24). faeces

In a December interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Baldwin said he trained the gun on Hutchins on her instructions as she went off without him pulling the trigger, adding: “Someone is responsible for what happened, and I can’t tell who that is, but it’s not me.”

Recalling his reaction to Baldwin’s interview, Hutchins said, “I was just so angry that he spoke so publicly and in such detail about her death and then took no responsibility after he just described killing her.”

The ABC interview made it “almost” sound like Baldwin was “the victim,” Hutchins told Kotb.

“To hear him blame Halyna in the interview and shift the responsibility onto others and to see him cry because of it,” he continued. “I just feel – are we really supposed to feel bad about you, Mr. Baldwin?”

The family’s lawsuit alleges that Baldwin, who also produced the film, and his co-producers showed “callous” disregard for safety complaints and their “reckless behavior and cost-cutting efforts” directly led to Halyna’s death.

It also names several other defendants, including producer Ryan Donnell Smith, assistant director Dave Halls and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed.

Gutierrez-Reed has sued the film’s ammo supplier, claiming its owner Seth Kenney gave her a cache of dummy ammo with live rounds mixed in.

She also claimed that Baldwin was partially responsible for Hutchin’s death after the actor allegedly ignored a request to attend crossbow safety training. However, the actor was not named as a defendant in the lawsuit.

While the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the shooting, no arrests have yet been made in connection with it.
