While Catherine is on the promotional trail, her co-star Matthew Horne has said he’s finding it difficult to promote the comedy film as the war in Ukraine continues to spread.

The 43-year-old actor plays Jamie in the flick, which is based on the rude older character from Catherine’s sketch show.

During an appearance on Lorraine on Tuesday, they said, “It’s hard to promote a goofy comedy movie in this heartbreaking situation.”

However, the show’s presenter Lorraine Kelly, 62, insisted people in Britain needed a little relief at the moment, telling him: ‘You know, for goodness sake, do we ever need a belly laugh right now?

“Do we ever need anything stupid and silly and gross and rude – that’s what we need now.”

The Nan Movie in Nan and Jamie take a road trip as she tries to mend her relationship with her estranged sister Nell (Katherine Parkinson) after Nell is revealed to be dying.

Though he’s uncomfortable promoting the film due to the troubles in Ukraine, he says Mathew enjoyed working on the project.

He told Lorraine: “It’s an original story and a road trip rolled into one. There is a moment of Nan’s tenderness in this film that is really beautiful, albeit after a late night rave.

“(There was) a lot and a lot of improvisation! We improvised a lot along the way, it was fantastic.
