Both Ghost Rider movie trailers have been re-uploaded by Sony in the last 24 hours

Something funny happened on Sony Pictures Entertainment’s YouTube channel recently – the trailers for 2007 wrong way driver and 2012s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance were both uploaded in the last 24 hours. Both films starred Nicolas Cage as Johnny Cage, the former stunt biker who sold his soul to the devil. In return, Cage was transformed into Ghost Rider, the spirit of vengeance. While fans can speculate that this means a relaunch of the Ghost Rider franchise is in the works, the trailers’ caption reveals the true meaning behind the uploads. Sony Pictures is celebrating the 15th and 10th anniversary of Nicolas Cage as Marvel’s supernatural hero and is treating fans to vibrant trailers for both films.

wrong way driver starred Johnny Blaze against the devil’s (Peter Fonda) wayward son, Blackheart (Wes Bentley), who plotted to take over his father’s empire. Eva Mendes also starred as Johnny’s long-lost love interest, Roxanne. Five years later Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance arrived and is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Ghost Rider has been hiding in Europe when he is recruited by Moreau (Idris Elba) to join a religious cult to save a young boy named Danny Ketch (Fergus Riordan) from the devil’s evil influence. Coincidentally, Danny later replaced Johnny by taking on the Ghost Rider mantle in the comics. Ciarán Hinds plays our devil this time, with Johnny Whitworth portraying Marvel villain Blackout. The trailer is notable for having Ghost Rider literally on fire at the end.

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been waiting for Ghost Rider’s debut, and rumors are circulating that John Wick’s Keanu Reeves and The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus are stepping into the role. “It would be a honour to me. There are some really amazing directors and visionaries out there, and they’re doing something that you’ve really never done before,” Reeves said during a recent conversation with Esquire. “In that sense, it’s special, in terms of scope, ambition and production. So it would be cool to be a part of that.”

“Fingering your fingers,” Reedus told in an exclusive interview about the MCU’s portrayal of Ghost Rider. “I dont know. There has been a lot of talk in the last few years. I don’t have an answer for you.” Reedus was open to wanting to take on the role of Ghost Rider, as he’s a huge fan of the Marvel Comics character and a motorcycle fanatic that goes with it. The Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider was played by Gabriel Luna on the ABC series Agents of SHIELD

Ghost Rider is also celebrating its 50th anniversary, and Marvel Comics is celebrating the occasion with a new ongoing series from writer Benjamin Percy and artist Cory Smith. Johnny Blaze captioned the series, “Johnny Blaze has the perfect life: a wife and two kids, a job at an auto repair shop, and a supportive small-town community… But Johnny’s not doing well. He has nightmares about monsters when he sleeps. And he has bloody visions when he’s awake. This life is starting to feel like a prison. And there’s a ghost inside him asking to break out!”
