Chris Pine returns to the big screen in a brutal new trailer for The Contractor

Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for their upcoming action thriller The service provider. The film is the first project as part of the new ViacomCBS and Paramount+ integration of Showtime content over the streaming platform. The story follows Chris Pine as Special Forces Sergeant James Harper, who is involuntarily discharged from the Army and cut off from his retirement.

In debt, with no options and desperate to provide for his family, Harper (Chris Pine) becomes a contractor for a private underground troupe. But when his very first assignment goes awry, the elite soldier finds himself hunted and on the run. Entangled in a dangerous conspiracy, Harper must fight to stay alive long enough to get home and uncover the true motives of his traitors.

“We gave them our minds, bodies and souls,” Harper says in the video clip. “They chewed us up and spat us out.” The trailer also shows Chris Pine leaping off a bridge, dodging bullets and escaping explosions, with a series of fistfights thrown into the mix. Addressing the collaboration with Paramount, Adam Fogelson, Chairman of STXfilms Motion Picture Group, said the studio is thrilled to be working with the amazing team at Paramount and Showtime following their successful collaboration queenpins. Collaborating on the Chris Pine film was a compelling deal and opportunity for the company and its film partners. Directed by Tarik Saleh from a script by JP Davis. The service provider is being produced by Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee (John Wick franchise) of Thunder Road Films, with 30WEST providing full funding for the film. 30WEST’s Dan Friedkin, Micah Green and Dan Steinman are executive producers along with Thunder Road Films’ Chris Pine, Jonathan Fuhrman, Tom Lassally, Josh Bratman and Esther Hornstein.

Starring alongside Chris Pine The service provider is an outstanding cast including Ben Foster as Mike, JD Pardo as Eric, Florian Munteanu as Kaufman and Fares Fares as Salim Mohamed Mohsin. Gillian Jacobs, Eddie Marsan, Nina Hoss, Amira Casar and Hollywood legend Kiefer Sutherland also star.

The service provider will be released by Paramount in a limited number of theaters in the United States, with a simultaneous DVD and digital release on April 1. The Chris Pine star will be appearing on Showtime and Paramount+ later in the year.

Chris Pine also has another film set due for release later this year. He will star alongside Florence Pugh and Harry Styles don’t worry darling – a psychological thriller directed by Olivia Wilde. It tells the story of an unhappy housewife in the 1950s who discovers a disturbing truth while her loving husband is hiding a dark secret. The film is due out September 23 from Warner Bros. Pictures.
