Christine McGuinness says she’s only seen one movie because of her autism

Christine McGuinness has admitted she has only seen one film in her life.

The 33-year-old TV star and model says she’s never been able to fully focus on a movie, but now understands why after being diagnosed with autism.

Christine, who is married to Top Gear presenter Paddy McGuinness, found out she had autism last year and her diagnosis with the developmental disorder was featured in her documentary Our Family and Autism.

Her twins Leo and Penelope, eight, and daughter Felicity, five, are all autistic.

As a teenager, Christine said she could only focus on one movie at a time, and that was the 1987 classic Dirty Dancing, starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray.

And former The Real Housewives of Cheshire star Christine has said on her new podcast Table Talk that she knew every single line from the coming-of-age story by heart.

Christine admitted to Paddy: “You don’t know that. I can listen to a song a hundred times, over and over again.

“I used to watch a movie over and over again. I’ve only seen one movie in my life,” Christine told the podcast.

“It was because I couldn’t stay focused. But it was dirty dancing. I knew it word for word.”

The Table Talk with Paddy and Christine podcast, in partnership with McCain and the Charity Family Fund, aims to raise awareness for families raising a disabled or critically ill child.

Paddy and Christine meet with six families across the UK with disabled children to learn more about the realities of family life.

According to the NHS, people with autism may have trouble communicating and interacting with others, find things like bright lights or loud noises overwhelming, stressful or uncomfortable, become anxious or upset about unfamiliar situations and social events, take longer to understand information and do or think the same things over and over again.

Christine joked that her husband “ruined” her love of film by taking her to this dirty dancing on stage in the West End for her 21st birthday.

“On my 21st birthday Patrick took me to see it for my birthday in London and it wasn’t the same.

Christine remembers: “On our first holiday together, I asked you to do ‘the lift’ with me.
