Thor: Love and Thunder is sea months away and still relatively little is known about the MCU epic. The project marks the fourth solo adventure for Chris Hemsworth’s Asgardian and the second to be helmed by director Taika Waititi. And while this may be Hemsworth’s film, they will be far from alone in this 2022 Marvel Studios sequel.
love and thunder will be reintroducing Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster to the franchise, and this time she’ll be picking up a hammer of her own. As part of the latest Thor Flick, Portman’s Foster takes on the role of Mighty Thor, a fan-favorite comic book character making his debut on the big screen.
So far, there have been few plot details for the project. However, it is known that Foster and Thor will clash with Gorr the God Butcher (played by Christian Bale). But aside from Gorr, no other major villains have spoken out in the run-up to the film’s first trailer.
That could change very soon, however, as some new LEGO sets appear to reveal another major villain.
The Battle of New Asgard
Instagram user @The.Brick.Wolf has leaked a new LEGO set for Thor: love and thunder, Revealing an attack on New Asgard.
The named quantity “Assault on New Asgard” comes with Thor, Mighty Thor and Gorr the God Butcher minifigures, and it appears to depict some sort of giant winged monster taking part in the conflict.
Asgard is never safe
Well, it may be a new version of Asgard, but it still causes conflict. After the events of Thor: Ragnarok seeing the complete obliteration of Asgard-proper, it felt like the home of Thor and co could get a little respite when it comes to big battles and the like. Well that doesn’t seem to be the case.
It looks like Gorr the Godslayer is about to bring his forces to Earth, and with them to New Asgard. However, Valkyrie and the residents of the newly settled community shouldn’t tremble in absolute horror, as Marvel Studios would be unlikely to disembowel an Asgard twice in consecutive solo films.
And who says this fight will even happen love and thunder. For a long time, LEGO sets have been released for upcoming films that depict events that never actually take place on the big screen.
However, this includes love and thunder‘S two main heroes and the film’s great evil, feels like something that’s about to happen in the Taika Waititi-directed epic.
While it’s unclear what exactly this monster is that Gorr deployed on New Asgard, there’s one thing it could be. It’s by no means an exact match, but it could be the Midgard Serpent featured in many Thor comic story arcs. Marvel may have reinvented the character for the MCU, but it could just be LEGO getting creative with the parts they have; There’s also a chance it’s a completely original beast made for the film.
Fans will have to wait and see how Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8, 2022.
