Peaky Blinders Movie Will Have Tommy Shelby, Steven Knight Says

Peaky Blinders Season 6 is the last of the BBC TV series, but creator Steven Knight has confirmed that we’ll also see a movie finale along with some potential spin-offs.

Season 7 has essentially been swapped out for an epic movie conclusion that will likely take place in WWII. However, until now it was unclear exactly who would be appearing and to what extent Season 6 will conclude the saga for Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby.

When speaking to Digital Spy prior to the release of series 6, creator steven knight seemingly confirmed that tommy shelby and his brother arthur would appear in the cinematic climax.

When asked if Tommy and Arthur would still be part of this world after Series 6, Steven said: “I can’t say that yet. But the film – yes.

“We’re going to make a film – a feature film – that will move the world on, and then when we’ve moved the world to the Second World, we’ll see where that takes us.

“It’s a situation now where the world… you know, around the world, the top World, it’s got so much energy and so many followers and such a huge following that you’re like, “Well, let’s just move on.” So we do it. “

On the casting of the film and beyond, Steven Knight said: “There are so many people, so many great actors, that we’re already in some sort of conversations with for the film and for everything that comes after it.

“But I think what we want to do is keep surprising people and bringing out new talent. Because it’s all out there and there’s a kind of consistency – what we do is find really good working-class actors from the background and tell that story. That’s what we’re trying to do. “

Series 6 added a few new names including EE Bafta Rising Star nominee Conrad Khan county lines and black mirrorAmber Anderson and The animal kingdom James Frecheville.

That’s no secret Peaky Blinders has amassed some very famous fans to rival the global audience it has garnered including David Beckham, Snoop Dogg, Brad Pitt and the rumble of Julia Roberts.

But then there are the actors that we know have actually auditioned and haven’t had success yet, such as Line of Duty Vicky McClure and Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland. Even Jason Statham was originally in talks to play Tommy Shelby.

Speak with Digital SpySophie Rundle, who plays Ada Shelby, said: “I don’t want to belittle the people we’ve had, but it’s exciting when you find out and it’s always Steve – because Steve knows everyone.

“And if you see him at a screening or something, he’s like, ‘Oh, you know so-and-so is watching this?’ And you’re like, ‘Could they maybe be there? Could I have a scene with you, please?’”

Peaky Blinders Season 6 premieres Sunday February 27 at 9pm on BBC One.
