The announcement trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet gives viewers a glimpse of the game’s open world and the ninth generation starting Pokémon.

The announcement trailer was released recently and gives players a little taste of what the new games have in store. While the game footage isn’t definitive, as the trailer suggests, it features another sprawling open world and a design style similar to the one recently released Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Additionally, the trailer offers a glimpse of the ninth generation starter Pokémon – Sprigatito (Grass-type), Fuecoco (Fire-type), and Quaxley (Water-type).
There are currently eight generations of Pokemon Mainline games and dozens of spinoff and tie-in games. The first two, Pocket Monsters: Ed and green (later renamed to Pokemon Red and blue) were released in February 1996 for the original Game Boy. the latest entry, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, was released exclusively for Nintendo Switch earlier this year. Featuring a large open world and revamped gameplay mechanics, it introduces a brand new region, Hisui, filled with new creatures like the Wyrdeer, Basculegion, and Kleavor. Reviews of Pokémon Legends: Arceus were positive, with one critic specifically noting that the title “really revolutionized the series for a more modern audience”.
There have been many other developments in the Pokemon franchise than just those related to the video games, and some of them feature arguably the most iconic pocket monster, Pikachu. Recently, an ultra-rare holographic Pikachu card featured in the Japanese Illustrator promo sold for a staggering $900,000, setting a new world record. Apparently, only 23 copies of the card are registered in the Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) database, and the new world record holder bears the grade “Near Mint”. The record was previously held by another “Illustrator” Pikachu card, which fetched $375,000 at auction.
In addition, MEDICOM TOY has released a new adorable Pikachu toy. The Bearbrick Pikachu figure retails for $19.99 and features “a happily winking face and an adorable fat belly.” The toy also has multiple points of articulation, including arms, wrists, legs, waist and head, allowing consumers to “create fun poses and scenes.”
However, not all new Pokemon News was positive. Punch Out Gaming, a Minnesota store, was robbed and the owners lost approximately $250,000 in assorted amounts Pokemon cards and goods. The thief gained access to the store by tunneling through a wall and managing not to set off the alarm.
Pokemon scarlet and Pokemon Violet They are expected to be exclusive releases for the Nintendo Switch. Both are scheduled for release in late 2022.
