Pokémon Legends Arceus announces animated series

The new anime series comes to the sprawling world of Pokémon, adapting the franchise’s latest game title, Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

The all-new animated series comes to the ever-expanding world of Pokemon.

Based on the recently published Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the new anime was revealed during the Pokémon Presents event. Little information is known about the series at this time, including the show’s title, but it has been confirmed that it will be an online series and will debut sometime in 2022. The Pokémon Company will likely announce more details in the coming weeks.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released at the end of January. The game features an expansive open world for players to explore, overhauled gameplay mechanics, and a brand new region, Hisui, filled with new pocket monsters like Wyrdeer, Basculegion, and Kleavor. Early reviews for the game were overwhelmingly positive; One critic has explicitly stated this Pokémon Legends: Arceus has “really revolutionized the series for a more modern audience”.

In addition to introducing players to Hisui and the region’s various new Pokémon, the title also confirms several long-standing theories, including that of Shaymin, the Gratitude Pokémon. It’s heavily implied Pokemon Diamond and pearl that Shaymin is responsible for Floaroma Town’s status as a flower paradise, but it is never explicitly said. However inside Pokémon Legends: Arceusplayers can witness the founding of the city for themselves. The game also confirms a theory about the Alolan version of Vulpix. In between Pokémon Legends: Arceuss new region, the new pocket monsters and the various implications of the lore, there will be many interesting story elements and storylines to explore in the upcoming anime.

the Pokémon Legends: Arceus Animated series isn’t the only exciting recent development for the franchise. An announcement trailer for two more games – Pokemon scarlet and Pokemon Violet – was also released recently, giving fans and players a little taste of what the ninth generation of the franchise has in store. The gameplay footage, while not definitive, hints at the open-world format and overall design aesthetic of Pokémon Legends: Arceus will continue to exist in the future. The trailer also gives a glimpse of the new starters – Sprigatito (Grass-type), Fuecoco (Fire-type), and Quaxley (Water-type).

MEDICOM TOY also released an adorable new Pikachu toy, the Bearbrick Pikachu figure, which features “a happily winking face and an adorable chubby belly” and multiple points of articulation. It retails for $19.99 and is currently available on the Pokémon Center website.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus can be played exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
