Taylor Swift revealed that she sent Dylan O’Brien a “quick text message” asking him to star in her heartbreaking 13-minute short All Too Well.

While discussing her decision to cast the 30-year-old Teen Wolf actor in her directorial debut, the 32-year-old Cardi singer told Bustle via email that she was her “first choice” to star alongside Sadie Sink in the video is week.

“I enjoy working with friends or people who I think would be excited to work with me,” she said.

The You Belong With Me singer then expressed that she was happy to have worked with people who would help her with the filmmaking.

“I’ve never made a short film before. I had to reach out to people who might think I could do it. I’m just blown away by what they did — they went out and left everything on the field,” she said.

Swift also noted that O’Brien and Sink “were the only two people I ever imagined playing [these roles]’And if the Stranger Things actress hadn’t been interested in the role,’ I don’t think I would have nailed it [All Too Well: The Short Film]. ‘
