The Killing Eve star’s new Pixar film is getting enthusiastic first reactions

Pixar’s latest film To redden is just a few weeks away from releasing on Disney+ and looks like another excellent film from the animation wizards.

The film focuses on a young girl named Mei Lee (voiced by newcomer Rosalie Chiang) and her relationship with her overbearing mother Ming (voiced by kill Eve and Grey’s anatomy Legend Sandra Oh).

Complicating her typical teenage problems is the fact that when she gets angry or embarrassed, she doesn’t blush – she turns into a giant red panda!

Looking at the initial reactions of a number of critics, including digital spy’Directed by Gabriella Geisinger, the film does a fantastic job of being both heartwarming and capturing what it’s like to grow up in a Chinese-Canadian household. Rosalie Chiang is also recognized for Outstanding Achievement.

The film is set in the early 2000s, and what was more important to a young girl in the early 2000s than boy bands? To redden draws on that and had none other than Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas to provide the tunes.

“We wanted our character Mei to be obsessed with something that her mother wouldn’t approve of,” Shi said. “Boy bands were the first step into the world of boys for a lot of girls that age.

“The boys were all super pretty, elegant, soft and loving, and they had a way of bringing girls and their best friends together. Also, I thought it would be really cool to start an animated boy band.”

Meanwhile, singers and The UK Voice Coach Anne-Marie recorded a cameo specifically for the UK version.

To redden Premieres exclusively on Disney+ on March 11, 2022.
