Zack Snyder goes viral after tweeting about the one year anniversary of his Cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is one year old, and the film’s director recently celebrated the anniversary via a tweet that went viral.

It’s hard to believe though Zack Snyder’s Justice League is now one year old. Released on March 18, 2021, the HBO Max exclusive offers a different take on its 2017 predecessor, which was widely viewed as a critical and financial disappointment after grossing $657 million worldwide with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 39% had taken. The superhero team’s directed version fared much better critically, earning a 71 percent Fresh score.

To commemorate the film’s one-year anniversary, Zack Snyder tweeted a seal that read, “The whole world became a Justice League.” The director captioned his post, “This means something.”

Surprisingly, the image shows two dates – March 18 and November 17, with a heart between them. November 17th is the release date of the theatrical version of justice league, but it’s unclear if the director intended to pay tribute to this film as well. However, that seems unlikely as the film was a difficult experience for him.

The tweet received an overwhelming amount of support, amassing over 50,000 in less than two days. Of course, this isn’t surprising given that the director’s fans have been vocal about their desire to continue his take on the DC Universe. That wasn’t just apparent ahead of its release justice league cut, but after.

For starters, the Snyder verse enjoyed a surge in popularity during the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Then, a few months later, #RestoreTheSnyderVerse was trending on Twitter after Warner Bros. referenced the four-hour version of justice league as a “global phenomenon” in a European HBO Max presentation.

More recently, the movement has regained momentum after a picture of actor Wayne T. Carr as the Green Lantern in Zack Snyder’s Justice League was published online. The hero was to appear in the film’s final scene, where Bruce Wayne is visited by the Martian Manhunter, who warns him of Darkseid’s impending return to Earth. He was eventually replaced by J’onn J’onzz, as Snyder explained in an interview with Vanity Fair:

“We did a version of that scene with Green Lantern, but the studio really fought me and said, ‘We really don’t want you to do Green Lantern. […] So I made a deal with them and they let me do it [instead]”

He continued and said: “[Warner Bros. was] like, ‘We have plans for John Stewart and we want to make our own announcement.’ So I said, ‘All right, I’ll give you that. In order to, [Martian Manhunter] was the compromise.”

This switch caused fans to clamor to see what the scene with the Emerald Knight in it would have looked like.

Of course, the image’s release sparked fan discussions and petitions for Snyder to return to take over DC’s big screen efforts. There’s definitely an appetite for the directorial version of the superhero franchise, but the question is how big the audience is.

However, no matter how many people are interested in continuing the director’s take on DC’s greatest heroes, we probably shouldn’t wait. WarnerMedia CEO Ann Sarnoff previously stated that Snyder’s vision for the DCEU was complete with the release of the justice league Director’s Cut.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League can be streamed on HBO Max.
